Breed Overview
The Kodi Adu is a tall, boldly patched meat breed from the Thoothukudi (Tuticorin) and Tirunelveli districts of southern Tamil Nadu. Usually black-and-white or brown-and-white, it is a lean, leggy and fast-moving goat built for the hot, dry coastal plains of the far south.
Exceptionally hardy and a strong walker, the Kodi Adu is reared by shepherd communities on extensive migratory grazing and is valued for its quality meat and its resilience in harsh, low-rainfall conditions.

🐐Physical Characteristics
A tall, lean and agile breed, typically patched black-and-white or brown-and-white. It has long legs, long backward-curving horns and an alert, athletic build suited to covering long distances on the dry plains.
🥛Milk Production
A low 0.5–1 litre/day — enough to rear kids, as the Kodi Adu is a dedicated meat breed.
🌦️Climate Suitability
Superbly adapted to the hot, dry coastal plains of southern Tamil Nadu. Extremely hardy, heat-tolerant and able to walk long distances for grazing and water.
🌾Feeding Requirements
Grazing- and browse-based on extensive, often migratory systems, needing little supplementation. One of the most economical breeds for low-input shepherding.
