The Surti is a compact dairy breed from the Surat and Vadodara districts of Gujarat. White-coated and neat in build, it is well-suited to intensive, stall-fed dairying and gives a good milk yield relative to its small, tidy frame.
With its short legs, silky white coat and calm temperament, the Surti is a popular household and peri-urban dairy goat, thriving in confined systems where fodder is brought to the animal rather than grazed.

🥛Milk Production
A strong 1.5–2 litres/day for its size, over a lactation of about 180 days — making it an efficient household and peri-urban dairy goat.
🌦Climate Suitability
Best suited to warm plains and, being small and docile, ideal for intensive stall-fed systems. Comfortable in confined, well-ventilated housing with brought-in fodder.
🌾Feeding Requirements
Efficient on cut-and-carry green fodder plus 300–400 g concentrate for milking does. Its small size and good yield give an excellent feed-to-milk ratio.
