About GoatIndia
What is GoatIndia?
GoatIndia is a free knowledge platform for goat farmers in India — practical, field-tested guides on breeds, farming techniques, health, business and products, plus a community forum.
Is the content free?
Yes. All our guides are free to read. Some future resources (like downloadable project reports) may be paid, but the core knowledge stays free.
Is the information India-specific?
Yes. Our guides are written for Indian conditions — local breeds, climate, feed, schemes and market realities.
Is this veterinary or financial advice?
No. Our content is educational. For a sick animal, consult a qualified veterinarian; for loans or investment, confirm with your bank and District Animal Husbandry Office. Figures are indicative and can change.
Guides & topics
Which goat breed should I choose?
It depends on your goal (meat or milk), climate and market. Browse our 37 breed guides and the breed-selection guidance to compare.
Do you cover government schemes?
Yes — see Loans & Government Schemes for NLM, AHIDF, NABARD and state programmes, with how-to-apply steps.
How current are the scheme figures?
We use the latest available figures and label them indicative. Scheme amounts and rules change, so always confirm current terms with your bank and Animal Husbandry Department.
Community forum
How do I join the forum?
Visit the Community page and register a free account to post questions and reply to others.
Can I share my phone number or sell goats in the forum?
No. To protect members from spam and scams, personal contact details are not allowed and are automatically masked. Please keep discussions on the forum — see our Community Guidelines.
How do I ask a good question?
Give context — your region, breed, herd size and what you have already tried. Clear questions get better answers from the community and experts.
Who answers questions?
Fellow farmers, and where possible experienced members and verified experts. Always confirm health and financial matters with a professional.
